So many assignments

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Some useful things learned from project 1:
- Photoshop isn't actually as bad as one may first think, it can actually be quite dandy
- I can now even insert pictures, warp them, flip them and make them transparent
- I can also draw lines, erase, put on filters, make new layers, duplicate things and the list goes on.
That's right, I have the skills.
- Printers can be very nice people, just look like a bewildered small child and they will usually take pity and do it all for you.
- Printing isn't as expensive as first thought, however spending $20 on magazines as a reward for finishing the assignment does not balance this saving out!
- Possibly THE most important thing I learned was to never ever ever use double sided tape while your hair is out. It is ridiculously painful to remove. Seriously.

These are my concept boards, the template, collage and creative. My favourite one is my creative. I think it is the most exciting one to look at and I had the most fun making it. That said, I will probably use my template as it communicates my ideas most clearly. And lets not even talk about the collage.

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike

Today was the first day back at uni after mid semester break. and we got yet another assignment. But this one does sound kind of interesting. It is about bikes. I wish I had somewhere safe to ride my bike, but alas I am a tad too scared of being killed to give it a try.
Its photos like this that make me want my own red bicycle with a basket full of freshly cut flowers and a loaf of bread still hot from the bakery...

LOVE

Today I read the Vogue article by Kim Noorda and the LOVE article about models and body image. It is shocking to see how these amazingly beautiful people think and feel about their bodies.

Seed Cathedral

This is the building I am doing for my architectonic assignment. It only opened yesterday and is the UK pavilion at the Shanghai world expo this year. The building is meant to reflect the UK's relationship with nature and conservation. It is made up of 70,00 transparent acrylic rods each with some seeds embeded in the end. These rods draw light into the pavilion in the day and direct it out at night making it like one huge fiber optic lamp. Pretty cool really.
